Finally! Delicious vegan and veggie options at this local hotel
It can be tough to find a good meal in the Philippines if you're on a strict plant-based diet, as many restaurants don't offer dishes that are truly free of all animal products. However, this hotel is changing the game.
The Manila Hotel announced that they have now expanded its culinary offerings with dishes for vegan and vegetarian guests.
Led by executive chef Konrad Walter, the options are now available across all dining outlets of the five-star hotel. The initiative was done to provide a more inclusive, ingredient-driven, and sustainable cuisine to guests.
"Our menus are rooted in freshness and balance," Walter said. "We focus on seasonal produce and non-processed ingredients to create dishes that are not only nutritious, but also full of flavor."
"We’ve seen guests try them out of curiosity, and walk away surprised at how satisfying and complex vegan cuisine can be," he added.
The vegan and vegetarian dishes were inspired by "global flavors and classic techniques." Guests can enjoy them at the hotel's six dining areas, namely, Café Ilang-Ilang, Champagne Room, Red Jade, Lobby Lounge, Tap Room, and Delicatessen.
At Café Ilang-Ilang, which is the hotel's buffet restaurant, guests can enjoy a rotating selection of vegan dishes available at the Halal station.
Champagne Room offers a Vegan Degustation Menu that changes monthly, showcasing a refined selection of meat-free courses, while Red Jade has a Vegetarian Set Menu featuring Vegetarian Peking Duck, Hot and Sour Soup with Vegetable Dumpling, Braised Potato Eggplant, and Chilled Coconut Jelly with Avocado, to name a few.
Guests at the Lobby Lounge and Tap room can delight in the vegetarian items such as Pizza Bello Giardino, Vegetable Samosa, Spring Rolls, and Fresh Grilled Tofu Salad. There are also vegan options like Whole Wheat Penne Primavera, and a hearty new addition, the Vegan Portobello Mushroom Burger.
Delicatessen, which caters to pastry lovers, has handcrafted vegan pralines in flavors like strawberry, mango, peanut butter, and fruits and nuts, as well as a Vegan Almond Chocolate Cake.
Guests can also choose vegan and vegetarian options in the comfort of their room through the In-Room Dining service.
Located along Manila Bay, The Manila Hotel is the oldest premier hotel in the Philippines and is one of the most important landmarks in the city.
