Rapper Sik-K, whose real name is Kwon Min-sik, has been sentenced by the Seoul Western District Court to a 10-month prison term for violating South Korea's Narcotics Control Act (marijuana).

In addition to prison term, he must complete 40 hours of drug treatment lectures and is also suspended for two years.

The court's sentencing highlighted the seriousness of his multiple offenses and his influence as a well-known singer. However, they also considered his genuine remorse and his decision to voluntarily surrender to authorities regarding the marijuana possession charge.

"The number of offenses is numerous, and as a famous singer, the social impact is high," they said. "He shows deep remorse and the fact that he turned himself in regarding the marijuana possession charge is taken into consideration."

The 31-year-old faced charges including ketamine and ecstasy use in October 2023, and marijuana use and possession in January 2024.

He ultimately turned himself in to police on Jan. 19, 2024, confessing his drug use.

His representatives said at that time: “Sik-K has surrendered to charges of simple possession of marijuana and smoking and is admitting to these charges. No Philopon (a form of methamphetamine) component was detected in Sik-K’s hair test results submitted during the investigation.”

Sik-K became popular through his appearance on the show Show Me the Money season 4. He launched his own music label in 2023 and is known for his songs Party, RING RING, and DARLING.
