Woman arrested for marrying man without his consent

A woman was arrested for marrying her ex-boyfriend without his knowledge.

USA Today, citing the Beverly Hills Police Department, reported that Kristin Marie Spearman from Texas is now facing a stalking charge.

Spearman has been released on bond last week but with an emergency protective order by authorities, whose focus is on “making sure this situation does not escalate.”

According to police, the marriage certificate was signed by a local reverend and was submitted to the office of the local clerk, who is now fully cooperating in the investigation.

Per the USA Today, the victim called the police on June 13 to report that he found two documents inside a gift bag when he returned to his home. These included a photo of Spearman holding their marriage certificate as well as a certified and embossed copy of their marriage license. The entire thing came with a tag that read, “Congrats, maybe call your wife.”

He said they were previously in a relationship but had an argument with Spearman, which led to their split. He told her not to talk to him again and changed his number.

Police said the victim had to “take a lot of steps to fix the problem along with costs.”

An investigation on the matter is still ongoing.
