Beauty influencer Valeria Pantoja dies while recovering from weight loss operation

Beauty influencer Valeria Pantoja died amid her recovery from weight loss surgery.

Her death was announced in an Instagram story shared on her page late Wednesday, May 7.

"It is with great sadness that we inform you of the death of Valéria Pantoja," it read, as translated from Portuguese to English, describing her as a "beloved person."

"May God give strength and comfort to family and friends at this difficult time," it added. 

The post also gave a special mention to her supporters, thanking them for their "support and affection."

According to a report by PEOPLE Magazine, Pantoja's sister-in-law said that the content creator went under the knife recently for weight loss.

"She was recovering from bariatric, she was very weak, got sick at dawn and ended up lifeless in the hospital," she's quoted as saying.

The official cause of her death is yet to be determined, her sister-in-law noted.

Pantoja was an influencer who shared beauty content on Instagram with her nearly 14,000 followers. Describing herself in her IG bio as someone who "helps you find the best version of yourself," she was also an entrepreneur who offered beauty services such as lip fillers, Botox, and micropigmentation.
