The beloved Filipino live-action adaptation of the iconic Japanese anime Voltes V is making its way to global audiences this Sept. 19.

Dubbed as Voltes V Legacy: The Cinematic Experience, the film version of the hit 2023 series has officially been added to Netflix’s Coming Soon section.

Director Mark Reyes hyped its international release on Instagram, saying: “We’re getting ready at the launch conveyors. [Voltes V: Legacy] the enhanced international version streams on Netflix this September 19.”

The film serves as a big-screen retelling of the Voltes V: Legacy television series, which aired on GMA Network from May to September 2023. It was produced by GMA Entertainment Group in partnership with Telesuccess Productions Inc. and Toei Company, Ltd., starring Miguel Tanfelix as Steve Armstrong, Ysabel Ortega as Jamie Robinson, Radson Flores as Mark Gordon, Matt Lozano as Big Bert, and Raphael Landicho as Little John, stepping into the role as the Voltes team.

Before its broadcast run, the movie version was shown in Philippine cinemas under the same title.

Since then, both the film and the full series have reached audiences in Japan, with "scenes that were not included in the Philippine version."

"In addition, the quality of the CG scenes, which were impeccable in the original, has been significantly improved through full-length remastering, resulting in a 'Super Electromagnetic Edited Version' with more impactful images," the website's translated text read.

Its film adaptation also aired in Taiwan last June.

Voltes V: Legacy is a reimagining of the legendary anime that captivated Filipino households in the 1970s and ’80s, based on the classic Japanese anime. Super Electromagnetic Voltes V was produced by Toei Company in 1977.
