Freddie Aguilar’s cause of death revealed by former partner
Josephine Quiepo, the former partner of Freddie Aguilar, shared more information on the passing of the OPM icon.
Quiepo disclosed what caused the singer's death as she confirmed it to talk show host Boy Abunda.
"Pumanaw na po ang OPM icon na si Freddie Aguilar sa edad na 72. Kinumpirma po ito sa amin ng kanyang ex-partner at ina ni Maegan Aguilar na si Josephine,” the King of Talk said in the May 27 episode of Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.
“Ayon kay Josie, binawian ng buhay kagabi si Ka Freddie sa Philippine Heart Center dahil sa multiple organ failure,” Abunda added.
According to health information website Cleveland Clinic, multiple organ failure occurs when two or more organ systems "stop working as they should."
Aguilar's wife of 11 years, Jovie Albao, mourned his death in a Facebook post later in the day.
"This is not goodbye, just farewell for now," she wrote, sharing a photo of them together. "Mahal na mahal kita, hanggang sa muli, bhabe. It was a good fight, because we are fighting together."
Aguilar—known for the hits Anak, Minamahal Kita, Kumusta Ka, and Bayan Ko—passed away at the age of 72. He was laid to rest at the Manila Islamic Cemetery, as confirmed by the Muntinlupa City Muslim Affairs Office, according to GMA News.
He is survived by Albao and his four children with Quiepo: Maegan, Jonan, Isabella, and Jeriko.
