Matet de Leon cleared up claims that her late mother Nora Aunor experienced financial hardships before her death despite having a successful entertainment career.

In an interview with motivational speaker Chinkee Tan on his YouTube channel, Matet was asked to shed light on Nora's financial situation following reports that her savings were low until her final moments.

Ang mommy ko kasi, parang paid before or pay after pagdating sa taping," Matet explained.

Papapilahin niya 'yan, ibibigay niya. Paanong hindi mauubusan nanay ko?" she continued.

According to Matet, the veteran actress didn't mind that she had no money as long as other people did.

Now that the truth is out, Matet asked the public to put a stop to the insults.

"Sana bago mapintasan 'yung nanay ko na mahirap, bago pintasan 'yung nanay ko na wala nang nangyari sa kanya, 'di man lang nakapag-invest, [ang gusto niya] tao muna, kaibigan niya muna, bago siya," she said.

While Matet entertained the thought that her mom wasn't taught how to manage her money properly, she asserted that she was simply a "very generous" person. "To the point na wala nang natitira. Hindi," she said.

She's very generous, very, very, very generous. Hindi na siya nakaipon," she continued.

Matet then opened up about how she gets affected by insults directed towards her mom, which is why she got emotional in a past live-selling session after she apparently read one concerning Nora's death.

Nora passed away in April this year due to acute respiratory failure. She was 71.
