Ever feel like throwing a subtle shade on social media? Or do you just feel like resharing a relatable post? Now, you can repost on Instagram.

According to Meta, they have launched new features that will help users connect more with friends on Instagram.

"People have always come to Instagram to share what they’re up to and where they are," they wrote in the announcement. "Now, with reposts, the map, and the 'Friends' tab in Reels, it’s easier for you and your friends to stay in touch through the content you’re enjoying on Instagram."

If you see a funny meme or a great quote you want to share, but don't want to put it on your Instagram Story, the new repost feature is for you.

Much like reposting a video on TikTok or retweeting on X, this new feature allows Instagram users to repost public reels and feed posts. Your reposts will be recommended to your friends' and followers' feeds, and a separate tab will appear on your profile where you can see all your reposts.

To repost a reel or post, tap the repost icon. You can also add a note to your repost by typing into the thought bubble that appears on screen and pressing save.

Apart from that, Meta has also introduced a new tab in Reels called "Friends."

If you remember Instagram's previous update, where you could see your friends' activity, this is similar to that.

The "Friends" tab shows you public content that your followers have engaged with, along with recommendations from any Blends they have created.

To access, just tap the “Friends” tab at the top of Reels.

Meta said that they are also "rolling out controls for what’s shown in the Friends tab, including the ability to hide your own likes and comments on reels, and to mute activity bubbles from specific people you follow."
