The Philippines' bet, Myrna Esguerra, is more than ready for the Miss International competition this November.

In an exclusive interview with PhilSTAR L!fe, Myrna opened up about her preparations, her advocacy, and her vision for what it means to represent the Philippines on the global stage.

For the 23-year-old Filipina, preparing for Miss International goes beyond physical training and pageant rehearsals. She also immersed herself in different local cultures to deepen her appreciation of the country's diversity.

"I've been preparing for everything for Miss International in terms of Pasarela, with communication skills, and also with how I will present myself as a Filipina and bring the whole Philippines to the Miss International stage," she added.

Uplifting quality education

At the heart of Esguerra's journey is her advocacy, which is to uplift quality education. She has been working with various organizations to address the reading and learning gap, particularly among elementary school students.

She has collaborated with publishing houses and World Vision Philippines to distribute books, create literacy programs, and support communities where access to quality education is limited.

"I'm so excited for everyone to see it because it's really something that we poured our hearts into doing," she said.

When asked why she deserves to win the seventh Miss International crown, Esguerra believes that the crown represents more than just a personal achievement—it is a responsibility.

"I will not carry my story, but the story of every child that I met along my journey towards Miss International. And you know, with that in mind, with all those stories, not just in my mind but also in my heart," she said.

Looking ahead, Esguerra envisions Miss International as a platform to bridge cultures and bring hope.

"To me, being Miss International means more than wearing a crown. It is a commitment to foster understanding among nations and to uplift communities through meaningful action," she said.

With her strong advocacy, dedication, and heartfelt vision, Esguerra is poised to step onto the Miss International stage as a beauty queen but as a storyteller, an educator, and a beacon of hope.

"You know, being Miss International, it's a commitment. A commitment to bridging culture and also having hope. And I plan to bring that to Miss International, and not just on the Miss International stage but to the whole world."

She ended, "I want to show that we Filipinos are not just here to present ourselves on the stage but also to present what's in our hearts to everyone."

Myrna was crowned this year's Bb. Pilipinas International at the 60th Binibining Pilipinas held in July. She bested 39 other contestants and will represent the country in the Miss International 2025 pageant to be held on November 12 in Tokyo, Japan.
