Bella Poarch returned to her home country for the first time in a decade and went straight to the hospital for eye surgery.

On her TikTok account, the singer and social media personality posted a video updating her followers that she traveled to the Philippines for the first time in 14 years, but her excitement was ruined due to a stye in her left eyelid that prompted a hospital trip.

"I don't know why but every single time I travel, s**t always happens," she said. "It's been 14 years since I've been back to the Philippines, and there's no way I'm gonna cancel over a stye."

Poarch recounted that after a 14-hour flight, she went directly to the hospital for a last-minute surgery as she had an important shoot in about a week.

"The surgery went so [smoothly] and I'm so grateful for the Filipino nurses and doctors that took care of me," she said as she showed a clip of herself putting ice on her bandaged eye.

"I could literally feel my eye swelling," she added.

After Poarch finally settled in her hotel room in Bohol, she took the bandage off and was delighted to see that the surgery left her with no bruises or swelling.

"Now I'm ready for Philippines," she ended.

According to Mayo Clinic, a stye is a red, painful lump that appears near the edge of your eyelid. These inflammations are "often filled with pus" and can be painful.

Most styes are harmless to the eye and won't affect your vision. It will also disappear on its own after a few days, meaning you won't have to undergo surgery to remove it. You can alleviate pain by applying a warm washcloth to your eyelid.

Poarch is known for creating the most liked video on TikTok, in which she lip syncs to the song M to the B by British rapper Millie B.

Beyond her TikTok career, the Fil-Am celebrity released a single Build a Bitch in April 2021, which both song and video were well-received by fans.

She also recently released a song with Sub Urban titled Inferno, with a music video that featured cameos of social media personalities like Bretman Rock and Ivana Alawi.
