Bugoy Drilon fulfills promise to mom with newly renovated home
Seventeen years after making a vow to his mother, OPM singer Bugoy Drilon has finally fulfilled one of his biggest promises—building a house for his mother.
In a heartfelt post, the former Pinoy Dream Academy finalist recalled how, before joining the reality talent competition, he promised his mother that if he ever won, he would give her the home she deserved.
The Paano Na Kaya singer said that while it didn't happen right away, he was able to do so 17 years after.
"Hindi man agad natupad, inabot ng 17 taon bago ko tuluyang naipon at naibigay ito sa kanila," Drilon wrote.
For the singer, the fulfillment of his promise was not just about the house itself but about honoring his commitment. “Ang sarap sa pakiramdam hindi dahil sa bahay, kundi dahil natupad ko ang isa sa mga pangako ko."
In the said post, Drilon shared some glimpses of the exterior of the newly built house. The exterior is painted in light neutral colors, with white walls accented by gray and beige details. The upper floor has a spacious balcony with sleek black railings. Surrounding the house are plants and trees, creating a fresh and homey atmosphere.
Ultimately, Drilon expressed his gratitude to God for the blessings that have come his way throughout his career, as well as to engineer Darwin Gatela for helping turn his dream into reality.
“Maraming salamat, Lord, sa lahat ng biyayang dumating sa buhay ko. Forever grateful. Salamat din, brother Engineer @darwingatela sa pagtulong para maging totoo ang pangarap na ’to. God bless you,” he wrote.
Drilon rose to fame in 2008 as the second runner-up of Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 and has since built a solid career in the local music industry. He popularized Filipino songs, including Paano Na Kaya, Pwede Bang Ako Na Lang, Hindi Na Bale, and Umiiyak ang Puso, to name a few.
