Marlon Wayans confirms 'White Chicks 2': 'I think it’s time'
OHHH. MYYYY. GOOOOD!
Cult classic White Chicks is about to have its sequel, star Marlon Wayans confirmed.
Marlon made the confirmation at the sidelines of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Image Awards 2025, where the Wayans family was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Speaking to Good Morning America, Marlon talked about never-ending questions about fans asking them for a sequel to the 2004 movie.
"They love that movie," he said, shaking his head a bit.
“So, I think it’s time,” he added. “You know, let’s get Scary Movie 6 done. And then we’re gonna go bring out White Chicks 2.”
The Wayans brothers Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Ivory reunited last October 2024 to develop a new Scary Movie film, for the first time in 18 years.
Marlon appears to have come around, especially since he has expressed misgivings over a White Chicks sequel in the past.
In 2023, he debunked rumors of White Chicks 2 happening after several Facebook pages posted fanmade posters of a supposed sequel.
In a video interview with GQ in May 2022, he said White Chicks took seven hours of makeup, 14 hours of filming, and another hour of taking their makeup off. Yet, he said they still had to hang out with the cast members.
"That movie almost killed us," Marlon said. "Shawn and I would get like two hours of sleep every day for like 65 days."
In another video interview with Esquire in October 2022, Marlon said he's more interested in doing a sequel portraying a Black character rather than a White (woman). Moreover, he said makeup for such a role will only take about 15 minutes. He appeared in movies like Scary Movie, G.I. Joe, Norbit, and Naked.
Still, he and Shawn, in a joint Instagram post, shared a video montage containing scenes from the iconic movie.
"All this nostalgia makes us want to write part 2," an excerpt from their caption read.
White Chicks follows two FBI agents who go undercover as two blonde hotel heiresses via whiteface and cross-dressing, as the ones they're imitating are supposedly the next victims of a high-profile kidnapping involving socialites.
Other cast members include Terry Crews, Busy Philipps, Jennifer Carpenter, Jessica Cauffiel, Jaime King, Brittany Daniel, Maitland Ward, Anne Dudek, Eddie Velez, Lochlyn Munro, Frankie Faison, and John Heard. Keenen Ivory Wayans served as director, while Marlon and Shawn were also co-producers.
White Chicks became a cult classic, with its scenes and lines still being shared on social media—and legions of fans demanding a sequel over the past few years.
