Kim Atienza survives severe road accident: 'Thank you Lord for my fourth life'
Kim Atienza is grateful for still being alive after he got into a severe road accident that left him with a broken rib.
On his Instagram account, the television presenter shared a series of pictures and video clips regarding his accident, including an x-ray result of his cracked rib as well as scenes of him being assisted by the emergency response team.
"Thank you, Lord, for my fourth life!" Atienza began in the caption.
Recounting how the mishap happened, he shared that he was riding home from work on his motorcycle when a huge dog darted straight into his path, with him ending up in the middle of the road.
"I flew eight feet over my handlebars hitting the pavement with a thud. I heard a loud crack and knew something was broken," Atienza wrote.
"As I laid on the street stunned, miracle of miracles, in seconds, a fully staffed ambulance arrived giving me first aid and stopping the cars from running me over," he continued.
Atienza said that the Fire Emergency Assistance Group (FEPAG) Emergency Medical Service had already clocked out from their work and had been on their way to have dinner in Malate when they saw him get into an accident.
He was then brought to the emergency room of a hospital, and his wife Felicia and their daughter Emman soon came after to tend to him.
"That was so comforting seeing them," Atienza said.
He assured his followers of his stable condition, sharing that he is now on pain medication and that he is taking some time off from both his work and riding his motorcycle for a few days until his rib heals.
Atienza expressed his gratitude for avoiding what could have been a fatal accident.
"God loves me so much. I could've broken my spine or banged my head, leaving me with graver injuries (or death) but all I have is a broken rib. I could've been run over in the dark if not for the off-duty FEPAG boys stopping traffic for me," he said.
"Thank you for this miracle Lord! Thank you to Felicia and Emman who were there for me in minutes. Thank you to the FEPAG boys for being angels and good Samaritans that night," he highlighted.
This is not the first time the 24 Oras segment presenter had gotten into a situation that compromised his safety. In 2016, he got into a bike accident while competing in a triathlon, saying that it was his helmet that saved his life during the bike crash.
Prior to this, he also experienced a mild stroke in 2010 and suffered from Guillain-Barre syndrome in 2013, which is a rare autoimmune condition that causes numbness and muscle weakness.
