Michael V. reflects on getting a tattoo in honor of the late Francis Magalona
Kapuso comedian Michael V. looked back on getting a tattoo in honor of his close friend, the late Filipino rapper and songwriter Francis Magalona.
On Instagram, Michael V. shared a throwback video of him getting a three-star and a sun tattoo on his back on March 9, 2009, at Eat Bulaga Studio in Broadway Centrum—three days after the rapper died on March 6, 2009.
"16 years ago and 3 days after Kiko passed away, I did something na hindi kasama sa mga plano ko sa buhay," the Pepito Manaloto star wrote, adding that he has nothing against tattoos except for the part that it was painful.
"Pero minsan mas okey na ‘yung sakit na alam mo ang pinanggalingan kesa du’n sa bigla mo na lang mararamdaman."
He continued, "[Francis Magalona] will live through his music. [Every time] you listen to any of his songs, his memory will last a lifetime."
Filipina actress-singer and blogger Saab Magalona, one of the daughters of Francis and Pia Magalona, extended her gratitude to Bitoy for remembering his dad.
"We love you, Tito Bitoy," she wrote.
Meanwhile, the Magalona family visited Francis M's grave on his 16th death anniversary.
"[We] had a beautiful morning as we said a little prayer and blessing to remember pop's 16th death anniversary today," Saab wrote in an IG post.
She added, "Vito and Pancho were so excited to visit 'lolo pop and luna' [We] Love you, papa!"
Saab also shared a clip of her son Vito playing air guitar to 1-800-Ninety-Six by Francis.
Francis, dubbed the "Master Rapper" and "The Mouth," died on March 6, 2009, due to leukemia.
He gained prominence for his roles in the teen comedy film Bagets 2 in 1984 and the hit 1987 variety show That's Entertainment.
The rapper is also known for his hit songs Mga Kababayan, Man From Manila, Ito Ang Gusto Ko, and Kabataan Para sa Kinabukasan, among others.
