Regine Velasquez denies sister pushed a fan at a meet-and-greet event

Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez has publicly addressed a fan's claim that her sister pushed them during a meet-and-greet. Velasquez denied the accusation and expressed her disappointment about the complaint.

"Hello everyone, may nagreklamo lang she was pushed daw during meet and greet," Velasquez said on X.

"Ok, first of all, I want to say I am grateful and thankful tuwing nanonood kayo. I am also aware that you want every single meeting to be meaningful. Unfortunately hindi ganon lagi kasi wala tayong oras. Hindi rin ako robot na hindi marunong mapagod," she began.

The OPM icon clarified that her sister Diane did not push the fan or ask if they were the ones paying for the venue.

"It was the other girl who actually said that," she wrote, not mentioning names.

"I know kasi halos sa tenga ko sinabi yun. Madaming tao dun. And they keep reminding everyone na kung pwede isang pic na lang at madaling araw na. But you insisted to have a selfie," she continued, adding that Diane removed her hand on Velasquez's shoulder so they could take a proper selfie.

The Isang Lahi singer also revealed that she has a video of the incident, which she believes proves her sister's innocence.

"By the way, I have the video that you were not pushed by my sister. My sisters and [the] rest of the people there [were] just trying to make sure we're safe."

Velasquez concluded her statement by saying she was not angry, but disappointed. She also acknowledged the high expectations of fans for a meaningful experience, but noted her own physical limitations.

"I was performing on stage since 8 p.m. both Vice and I were so tired but sobra kaming thankful for you guys kaya kahit hindi na kami makatayo andun parin kami at nag papa picture. Hindi naman ako galit but I'm disappointed. Anyway..."

Adding his voice to the conversation, Velasquez's husband, Ogie Alcasid, offered his full support to his wife. Replying to the post, he praised her dedication to her fans.

"You give your heart and soul to anyone who takes the time and pledges their support to your performances. The most selfless performer I know is you," he wrote, adding that Velasquez always prioritizes the audience's happiness.

"Mas iniisip mo lagi na maging masaya ang audience mo. I witness it everytime. All the time. I am your forever fan. I love you, and we love you, Baba."

Fan hopes the issue was settled in private

A fan named Sette replied to the same tweet with a statement, claiming that she was the one the singer was referring to.

In the note, she expressed regret over the incident becoming a public issue since she emailed it to MWell, a digital health and wellness app that Velasquez endorses.

The fan apologized to the Idol Philippines judge, saying that she didn't think her complaint would "cause this kind of outcome."

She explained that she raised her concern privately and had hoped it would be resolved in private, adding, "I never posted about it because my intention was never to embarrass or attack anyone."

Addressing the allegations, the fan clarified that she had personally messaged Diane because she felt she was upset with her.

She also mentioned an instance at a previous meet-and-greet in Singapore where she felt Diane was rolling her eyes at her.

"I also personally messaged Ate Dianne because I felt she was upset with me. At one point, I even asked her if she had a problem with me, because she kept rolling her eyes at me, even back in the Singapore meet & greet po," she said.

Sette admitted that due to the fast pace of the event, she was not certain who made the comment about paying for the venue.

"I don't know po talaga kung sino sa kanila, and I explained this to Ate Dianne as well."

'I will still always be your fan'

The fan also explained where her disappointment was coming from, saying she "worked hard" for the Meet & Greet pass, but felt that she did not get the "full experience."

Despite the misunderstanding, the fan maintained her respect for Velasquez. She stated that she understood that the singer was tired and that her complaint was not meant to question her effort or kindness.

"This is not about questioning your effort or your kindness to fans. This is about what I felt happened from my side," the fan wrote. "My heart is still full of admiration for you, and after this, I will still always be your fan."

Velasquez is considered "one of the most influential" figures in Philippine pop culture and is known for her vocal range and belting technique. She popularized hit songs like Araw-Gabi, Kung Maibabalik Ko Lang, Pangarap Ko ang Ibigin Ka, Dadalhin, You Are My Song, and You Made Me Stronger, among others.

She and Its Showtime mainstay host Vice Ganda concluded a two-night "Superdivas: The Concert" at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last Aug. 8 and 9.
