South Korean actors Shin Go Eun and Yoon Jong Hwa have ended their marriage after three years.

Shin announced their divorce on May 1. In her Instagram post, the actress said that they had gone their separate ways almost half a year ago.

"I debated a lot for a long time whether to write this message. I’m writing this brief letter because many people are curious, and I think this is a part of my life that I need to let people know about," she began, as translated by K-media outlet Soompi.

"It has been almost half a year since we ended our three years of married life and went our separate ways," Shin added. She cited that their personalities and values were "very different."

"Though we made a lot of effort, it didn’t work out," she added.

"We have decided that each of us will work harder and do our best separately, in our respective positions. I feel very apologetic to have to convey this kind of news to the people who gave us their interest and blessings," she concluded her post.

The two tied the knot in May 2021. They first met in the series, Bad Love in 2019, and started dating in June 2020 after the series ended.

Shin debuted as a singer in 2011 before venturing into the industry as an actress. She played roles in the series The Last Empress and starred in Gangnam Scandal, Bad Love, and Woman in a Veil.

Meanwhile, Yoon played roles in Air City, The K2, Worlds Within, Eve's Love, and Gangnam Blues, among others
