YouTubers Stacey Tourout and Matthew Yeomans died in a tragic off-road accident in the mountains of British Columbia.

Stacey's mother, Colleen Tourout, in a Facebook post on Aug. 11, announced the couple's deaths.

"With unimaginable heartache, the families of Matthew Peter Yeomans and Stacey Tourout would like to advise that we lost them both, tragically succumbing to injuries in an off-road accident on Aug 7, 2025 in the beautiful mountains of British Columbia that they loved so much," she wrote.

"Please keep us and them in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this devastating end to an amazing love story. They are together forever as we knew they would always be," she continued.

Kaslo Search and Rescue, which attended the scene, also confirmed the news.

Mark Jennings-Bates, a manager with Kaslo SAR, told CBC News that rescuers were called to an off-road motor vehicle incident at around 6:30 p.m. on that fateful day.

"So it was on a forestry road, somewhere in the mountains, and quite a long ways north in the valley up towards ... the village of Trout Lake," Jennings-Bates said.

When rescuers arrived, he said one person was found inside the vehicle with no vital signs. Another person was discovered away from the crash site, “disoriented and suffering from serious injuries.” She was stabilized and taken to the hospital but “sadly passed away later that evening.”

Jennings-Bates said he wasn't sure whether the couple was filming at the time of the accident or what the exact cause was. He, however, noted it was suspected to have resulted from a loss of control on rough terrain.

He added that the vehicle had fallen approximately 200 meters down a rock field, speculating it rolled "many, many times" before coming to the bottom.

"It was a challenging rescue," he said. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of those involved."

Jennings-Bates said another vehicle was traveling with them and was able to offer assistance and call for help, giving rescuers a precise location of the accident site.

"Our teams were able to get to them efficiently. It's a long journey, but they got there efficiently," he said. "So that was very, very helpful."

"And of course that means that the helicopter pilot could also fly straight to the destination with confidence that he was going to find them," he added.
