A bouquet of red roses was left outside the beauty salon of 23-year-old influencer Valeria Marquez a few days after she was shot dead during a TikTok livestream, according to local media. It was accompanied by a chilling note.

Local newspaper Diario de Yucatan reported that the flowers, believed to have been sent by the mastermind of her murder, were discovered early this week at Blossom the Beauty Lounge in Zapopan in central Mexico where the killing took place. It was topped with a white ribbon with the word “perdón” (sorry) in black ink.

Per the news outlet, state governor Pablo Lemus Navarro said that CCTV footage showed Marquez’s alleged murderers leaving the scene after she was shot to death using two different vehicles. The clips are now being investigated by authorities.

"When they attacked this influencer, Valeria, they took two different routes in two different vehicles: a motorcycle and a white car," Navarro is quoted as saying.

The governor also said that investigators have interviewed over 20 people who had a close relationship with Marquez. Her close friend Vivian de la Torre has also been ordered to testify in court as she allegedly asked her to stay at the salon at the time she was killed.

Marquez was fatally shot on May 13 while she was livestreaming on TikTok. Prosecutors said she expressed fear for her life on the live video before her murder.

According to Reuters, her death is also being investigated for femicide, or "the killing of women or girls for reasons of gender." Per Mexican authorities, it can "involve degrading violence, sexual abuse, a relationship with the murderer, or the victim's body being exposed in a public space."
