Tom Felton to reprise role as Draco Malfoy in ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' on Broadway
Tom Felton is reprising his villainous role as Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Broadway production.
The actor announced that he is coming back to Hogwarts as his famous character for the Broadway show, which begins on Nov. 11.
"Guess who's back," he wrote.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child takes place 19 years after the end of the original series, with Draco, Harry, Ron, and Hermione, now grown up, sending their children off to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
“It’s very much a pinch-me situation,” Felton told media outlet TODAY. “I keep thinking I’m dreaming. I let go of that character 16 years ago, and now I get to step back into his shoes, as a father this time, in a new story.”
“It’s very, very easy to get emotional; When they put my blond wig on for the theater production, I just immediately cried. It was just sort of like a blast from the past," he added. "It was something that I never thought I’d see again.”
The show will have a limited 19-week run, through March 22, 2026.
This will mark Felton's Broadway debut, and the first time an original cast joins the Broadway show.
First staged in 2018, Tony Award-winning Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the highest-grossing non-musical play on Broadway.
Felton played Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter film franchise from 2001 to 2011.
