'Superman 2'? David Corenswet says he's under contract for a potential sequel
Will David Corenswet return as Superman for another movie?
The Clark Kent actor and his co-star Nicholas Hoult sat down for a Lie Detector Test interview with Vanity Fair to grill each other while hooked up to a real polygraph machine. The test, known for eliciting unexpected truths from celebrities, took a surprise turn when Corenswet let it slip that he’s already signed on for a potential Superman sequel.
The moment came when Hoult asked: if given the chance, would Corenswet rather reprise his Superman role or become a Jedi Knight in Star Wars? Without hesitation, Corenswet said, “Jedi Knight.”
While that might have been enough to stir fans, the real bomb dropped when asked if it was hard to choose between the two, Corenswet said, “It was among them. In the end, as many things do, it came down to the money. I'm already under contract for a sequel, but I’d be fresh negotiating with Star Wars, so.”
That wasn't the only jaw-dropping moment from the interview. Hoult, who plays Lex Luthor, shared that he originally auditioned for the Man of Steel before being cast as the villain.
During the interview, Corenswet was also asked about the "wildest bruise" he got during filming. “My right testicle," he revealed.
Apparently, during a big flying stunt, as seen in the trailer, where Superman punches through glass and soars into the sky, Corenswet’s harness left him in significant pain.
“The first take of that… big epic punch, leap through the air, and then just, ‘my testicle,’” he explained.
“Oh yeah, I couldn’t lie about that. It’s on film,” he playfully added.
The new Superman film officially marks the start of James Gunn’s rebooted DC Universe. It follows Superman as he navigates his role as Earth's protector while dealing with public mistrust and a rising threat from Lex Luthor, played by Nicholas Hoult. The story explores the balance between his Kryptonian heritage and his human upbringing, highlighting themes of identity, purpose, and hope.
Superman is now screening in cinemas. Read our full review of the film here.
