Here's why Pia Wurtzbach attended SONA 2025
Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach was among the celebrities and personalities spotted in the SONA 2025 crowd on Monday, July 28.
The beauty queen attended President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s fourth SONA at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City, representing two significant organizations: Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and HIV advocacy group LoveYourself, Inc. She was seen seated beside OWWA chief Patricia Yvonne "PY" Cunanan.
In an Instagram post, LoveYourself, Inc. described her attendance as a "meaningful moment" that "reflects the ongoing partnership between OWWA and [LoveYourself]."
"[Pia Wurtzbach] continues to be a strong voice for the community, championing inclusion, progress, and conversation that moves us all forward," the organization said.
Pia, in an IG post, said being at this year's SONA was "truly an honor."
"It’s a reminder of the work we’ve started and how far we’re still going," she wrote. "Grateful to be part of conversations that center progress, inclusion, and real community care."
During the event, the Miss Universe 2015 titleholder wore a Mark Bumgarner number. She was styled by Perry Tabora.
Pia was recently tapped as an ambassador of OWWA. She has also been working with LoveYourself, Inc. for a decade now.
In a media event attended by PhilSTAR L!fe in November 2024, Pia underscored that it's high time to put more conscious effort into addressing the HIV/AIDS problem in the country. She noted that holding press conferences, writing posts, creating videos, conducting talks with communities, and even hosting a show to raise HIV/AIDS awareness don't cut it anymore.
"What else can I do? I'm trying to find ways to be a more effective advocate," she said at the time.. "Parang 'di na enough ang ginagawa kong raising awareness. Now it's time to change the strategy a little bit. I feel like I can do more."
