20th Century Studios announced in July that the sequel is officially in production.

The sequel, set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026, will see the return of the original powerhouse trio: Meryl Streep as the formidable Miranda Priestly, Emily Blunt as the sharp Emily Charlton, and Stanley Tucci as the beloved Nigel.

Director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna are also reprising their roles.

While plot details remain tightly under wraps, reports suggest the sequel is said to center on "devil" Miranda as she continues her career amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing. She will face off against Blunt's character, who is now a "high-powered executive for a luxury group with advertising dollars that Priestly desperately needs."

Filipino-American actor Conrad Ricamora will join Hathaway, Streep, Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, who are set to reprise their roles as Sachs, Miranda Priestly, Emily Charlton, and Nigel, respectively.

Among the other new faces in the upcoming film are Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, and Paul Chalamet.

Joining them is Oscar winner Kenneth Branagh, who will portray Priestly's husband, according to a report by Variety.

Released in 2006, The Devil Wears Prada is based on the novel of the same name by Lauren Weisberger. It was known to have been inspired by her time working for Vogue and its editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, who recently stepped down from her post after nearly four decades.

The film follows a recent college journalism graduate, Andy, who was hired as an assistant for Miranda, a job that "a million girls would kill for." While she initially struggles with her boss' impossible demands, she soon finds herself sucked into the world of high fashion and the "Runway" philosophy.
