WATCH: Official trailer for 'It's Okay to Not Be Okay' PH remake out now
Fans are getting an exciting new look at the Philippine adaptation of It's Okay to Not Be Okay with the release of its official trailer by Netflix.
The three-minute trailer opens by introducing Joshua Garcia as Patrick, a nurse devoted to his brother Matthew, who has autism and is played by Carlo Garcia.
Viewers also get to see Anne Curtis' character Emilia Hernandez, a successful children's book author with an intimidating presence.
The trailer then shows Emilia having a fateful encounter with Patrick at his workplace, where she asks him, "Do you believe in destiny?" As the scenes progress, the preview takes on a more mysterious tone as glimpses of Patrick and Emilia's dark past are revealed.
The teaser reaches an exciting climax as Emilia is shown attempting to stab someone before Patrick intervenes and holds the knife, causing his hand to bleed as the two of them glare at each other in a standoff.
Directed by Mae Cruz-Alviar, the remake is based on the hit South Korean series of the same name that starred Kim Soo-hyun, Seo Yea-ji, and Oh Jung-se.
The upcoming adaptation is expected to follow the core plot of the original, in which an author with severe antisocial tendencies learns to confront her deep emotional wounds when she meets a stranger who challenges her cold facade.
The It's Okay to Not Be Okay remake will also star Enchong Dee, Xyriel Manabat, Francis Magundayao, Agot Isidro, Rio Locsin, and Edgar Mortiz. It will premiere on Netflix starting July 18.
