Miss Grand International extends age limit to 35

Miss Grand International has raised its age limit for candidates starting from the 2025 edition.

The organization announced on Wednesday, June 4, that the eligible age requirement for candidates will be 18 to 35 years old, from the previous 30-year-old limit.

Other pageant franchises have done the same. Miss Supranational raised its age limit to 32, while Miss Universe scrapped its age requirement and opened the pageant to mothers, wives, and divorced women.

Philippines' CJ Opiaza took over the MGI 2024 crown recently after India's Rachel Gupta relinquished the crown following her claims of mistreatment by MGI executives. In a video statement, the Indian beauty queen said the Miss Grand International organization "only cared about money" and that it was "impossible to work" with them.

She added that despite her hard work, all she got in return was "constant harassment, mental torture, mistreatment, and it's on a systemic level."

Opiaza will crown her successor in this year's pageant set for October in Thailand.
