Samsung to unveil 'ultra' foldable in July

Samsung has announced the date for its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event where it will launch its next "ultra" foldable.

Its summer event is set to take place in Brooklyn, New York on July 9, and it will be streamed via the tech company's YouTube channel.

The teaser hinted at a very sleek and slim form factor opening up. This is followed by the words "Ultra Unfolds."

In its release, Samsung discusses how its Galaxy AI "redefines" user's relationship with technology.

"This transformation moves us from reaction to anticipation—where, as AI becomes the UI (user interface), intent becomes instant," it wrote.

"The next-generation Galaxy devices are being reimagined around a new AI-powered interface, supported by breakthrough hardware built to unlock their full potential," it added.

In a previous release, Samsung wrote about how its users have been asking for an "UItra experience" in a smaller and more portable form factor. Alongside this was a clip of a foldable device akin to the brand's Galaxy Z Fold.

What will an Ultra experience entail? The tech company teased different use cases, such as asking AI to find you a restaurant and text your dining companion while on your evening commute, as well as having a "powerful" camera to capture memories.

In May, the Korean tech giant released the Galaxy S25 Edge, which is said to be the brand's "thinnest" phone yet. This appears to rival Apple's rumored "ultra thin" iPhone 17 Air.

The Galaxy S25 series, launched in January, is equipped with improved AI features such as an audio eraser that can get rid of noise in videos and AI agents to complete multi-step tasks between apps.

Currently, Samsung's foldable line includes the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Flip6, which were launched in July 2024 in Paris, France.
