WATCH: 'Squid Game' season 3 trailer shows games getting deadlier than ever
Get ready for the final games, as the global hit K-drama Squid Game season 3 is coming to Netflix on June 27.
The story picks up from season 2’s brutal cliffhanger after Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) launched a rebellion against the game masters that cost him a friend’s life and a betrayal.
The trailer released on Netflix’s Tudum fan event opened with Young-hee, the iconic laser doll, holding a rope as surviving players entered a simulated pier.
The intro scene cuts to Gi-hun questioning why he’s still alive after losing almost everyone from the revolt.
A montage of the games, still as deadly as ever, also showed Hyun-joo/Player 120, Myeong-gi/Player 333, Dae-ho/Player 388, Jun-hui/Player 222, Geum-ja/Player 149, and Gung-seonyeo/Player 44 surviving mazes and jumping over a rope above a ledge.
Meanwhile, Jun-ho, the Front Man’s brother, continues to search for the island, unaware that there’s a traitor in their midst.
At the end, the Front Man asks Gi-hun, “Player 456, do you still have faith in people?”
Squid Game stars Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Wi Ha-jun, Park Gyu-young, and Park Sung-hoon.
Hwang Dong-hyuk, the show’s director, writer, and producer, made history at the 74th Primetime Emmys as the first Asian to win the “Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series” award for Squid Game’s first season.
