Filipino songwriter Jonathan Manalo becomes a voting member of the Recording Academy
Filipino talent continues to shine globally!
Award-winning songwriter and producer Jonathan Manalo has earned a spot as an official voting member of the Recording Academy, the same organization behind the Grammy Awards.
Manalo announced the news on his social media account, expressing his excitement about joining a global community of music creators and professionals.
He called the achievement an "incredible honor" and highlighted the significance of joining an organization that is "shaping the future of music and raising the standard of excellence worldwide."
As a voting member, Manalo now has a direct say in the GRAMMY Awards. He sees his new role as a chance to advocate for the entire music industry and collaborate with his peers.
"The strength of the Academy comes from its diversity of genres, experiences, and voices. I'm humbled and excited to contribute my own perspective, and to champion music that connects, inspires, and moves the world," he concluded.
Manalo is a Filipino songwriter, record producer, and the current ABS-CBN Music operations, content, and creative head.
He is the man behind hit Filipino songs Pagbigyang Muli, Nais, Nag-iisa Lang, Kabataang Pinoy, Hanggang Sa Huli, and Leni Laban!, among others.
Earlier this year, Manalo's songs were the centerpiece of the musical Delia D.: A Musical Featuring the Songs of Jonathan Manalo at the Newport World Resorts. The musical is the first original full-length theater production ever dedicated to a fictional Filipino drag queen.
Meanwhile, the Recording Academy is an American organization of musicians, producers, recording engineers, and other music professionals. It's widely known for hosting the annual Grammy Awards, which are considered one of the most prestigious honors in the global music industry.
According to its website, it aims to recognize "excellence in the recording arts and sciences, cultivate the well-being of the music community, and ensure that music remains an indelible part of our culture."
