Archie Comics is launching a PH-exclusive variant cover featuring halo-halo
Archie Comics is getting the Pinoy treatment!
The series' longtime writer and artist Dan Parent announced on June 30 that he'll be visiting the Philippines in September for SuperManila Comic Con. Along with this, Archie Comics is launching an event-exclusive variant cover of Betty & Veronica with a Pinoy twist.
The cover modifies the iconic "three on a straw" moment between Archie, Betty, and Veronica. Instead of sipping on a milkshake, the trio share a tall glass of halo-halo. Archie is seen munching on a barquiron, while Betty and Veronica scoop ube ice cream and shaved ice, respectively.
In the limited-edition Betty & Veronica, a new character called Medusa Doom will also be introduced.
The PH-inspired comics will be available exclusively at SuperManila Comic Con, which will be held on Sept. 6 and 7 at One Ayala in Makati City.
Fans can score two variant versions: a trade dress version and a virgin variant, which will showcase Parent's artwork without titles.
They will also get the chance to meet Parent in person and get their comics signed.
Parent, who has worked with Archie Comics for three decades, is known for creating Archie's first openly gay character, Kevin Keller, in 2010.
Launched in 1941, Archie Comics follows a group of teenagers in the town of Riverdale. Most stories center around the love traingle between Archie Andrews, girl next door Betty Cooper, and billionaire's daughter Veronica Lodge.
Tickets to SuperManila Comic Con are now available online and start at P500 for early bird admission (until July 31 only), P550 for regular admission (starting August 1), P10,000 for VIP package.
The VIP ticket includes tickets for two days, early access, and five comics exclusives including the trade and vergin cover of the Archie Comics, Absolute Flash comics, and two others.
