Breast milk-inspired ice cream? Yes, there's such a thing
Do you remember how breast milk tastes? Now, you can try it... but as a dessert.
US-based ice cream brand OddFellows Ice Cream Co. and baby product company Frida have teamed up to launch a limited-edition breast milk-inspired sweet treat to promote the latter's new 2-in-1 Manual Breast Pump.
According to Frida, the ice cream is not made from real human breast milk instead with one "standout ingredient," which is liposomal bovine colostrum.
MDAnderson Cancer Center describes colostrum as a "nutrient-dense fluid that is released from the breast of mammals after they give birth to provide nourishment and certain nutrients to their young."
Although the ice cream's colostrum is sourced from cows, it is also present in human breast milk and is high in nutrients and antibodies, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The breast milk ice cream, which has a sweet and salty flavor, is also made with milk, heavy cream, skim milk powder, egg yolks, and sugar combined with honey, and fruit juice.
"Our ice cream is lightly sweet, a little salty, with hints of honey and a dash of colostrum. And while it's not actually made with human milk, we think our recipe tastes pretty close to the real deal," Frida said on their website.

This limited-edition ice cream flavor is available for purchase at OddFellows' shop in Dumbo, Brooklyn, New York, until Aug. 10 and is available on Frida's website for $12.99 or P741.47.
