How much will your SSS pension increase annually until 2027?

The Social Security System is giving its members a reason to celebrate.

For the first time in 68 years, the SSS is rolling out a multi-year pension reform program that will provide a pension increase over the next three years, starting this September.

This program is the SSS's answer to the rising cost of living, aiming to help pensioners "recover from inflation and protect their purchasing power." Best of all, this pension hike won't be funded by a contribution increase from current members.

So, how much are pensioners going to receive?

The first wave of increases kicks off in September. If you're a retirement or disability pensioner by Aug. 31, 2025, you'll see a 10% increase in your monthly benefit. Death or survivor pensioners will also get a raise of 5%.

The same increases will be rolled out again in September 2026 and in September 2027. This means that retirement and disability pensioners will get 33.1% more money, while death or survivor pensioners get 15.8% more.

Let’s say John is a retiree who receives P10,000 per month as of Aug. 31, 2025. This means he qualifies for a 10% increase in her pension three times: in September 2025, 2026, and 2027.

In September 2025, he gets his first 10% increase. That’s P1,000 more, so his monthly pension becomes P11,000.

In September 2026, he gets another 10%. This time, it’s 10% of P11,000, or P1,100, raising his monthly pension to P12,100.

And in September 2027, he receives one last 10% increase. That’s P1,210 more, making his new monthly pension P13,310.

In total, John's pension will grow from P10,000 to P13,310 in three years. That's an increase of P3,310 per month.

For a survivor like Marie, meanwhile, let's say she receives P8,000 monthly as of Aug. 31, 2025. That means she's eligible for a 5% increase in September 2025, 2026, and 2027.

In September 2025, she gets her first 5% increase. That’s P400 more, so her monthly pension becomes P8,400.

In September 2026, she gets another 5%. This time, it’s 5% of P8,400, or P420, raising her monthly pension to P8,820.

And in September 2027, she receives one last 5% increase. That’s P441 more, making her monthly pension P9,261.

Over three years, Marie's pension will grow from P8,000 to P9,261, giving her an additional P1,261 per month.

The SSS also gave its own sample computation showing the minimum, average, and highest pension levels. Pensioners may earn as low as P300 and as high as P7,000.

"The SSS Pension Reform Program of 2025 marks a historic step toward a more inclusive and responsive social security system," the agency said, "one that protects the dignity and well-being of Filipino retirees and their families."
