This is not a crossover of It and The Ring. This is not a work of fiction either. But it can also be disturbing nevertheless.

An individual was seen coming out of the sewer in broad daylight amid the city traffic in Makati.

In a viral May 26 Reddit post titled Mole People?, user RoughMasterpiecei shared photos at the corner of V.A. Rufino and Adelantado Streets in Brgy. San Lorenzo, where a person with long black hair, a brown shirt, and blue jeans emerges from underground.

One angle shows the individual looking at motorists seemingly waiting for the stoplight to turn green, while another angle shows the individual smiling and looking somewhere far away.

A third photo shows the individual appearing to be crawling, and a fourth one, already out of focus, shows only the crosswalk and the individual's legs, with one slipper unfastened.

"I had just finished at the gym and was walking back home, camera in hand, doing a bit of a photowalk," the Reddit user wrote. "Just at the corner of VA Rufino and Adelantado, I saw something that made me freeze—a head coming out of a street drain."

"Instinct kicked in. I started snapping photos—couldn’t believe my eyes," the user continued. "But then, she started running—towards me."

Feeling "tensed," the user expressed readiness "to defend myself if needed" as the "adrenaline hit hard."

"But just as quickly, a military guy on a scooter shouted, 'Wag!!' So I stood down," the user said. "A few pedestrians, motorcyclists, and even the traffic enforcer just stood there—stunned, confused, maybe even a little amused."

"Makati streets, man," the user added. "They never fail to surprise."

'Ginawa niyang tahanan'

In a press conference on May 28, Makati City Police Station Chief Jean Dela Torre said the individual is a mendicant.

"May problema sa kaniyang pag-iisip," Dela Torre said. "Sa CCTV, nakita natin na may problema siya sa kaniyang pag-iisip."

The officer noted that they discovered several things in the hole, including pliers, small objects the individual had supposedly attached, and shirts.

"Ginawa niyang tahanan," she said. "Napakaliit na kung titingnan mo, imposible ngang magkasya ang isang tao pero 'yung babae, nagkasya siya."

Dela Torre noted that the individual is harmless.

"Nakakatakot lang ang itsura niya kasi maraming grasa sa katawan," she said. "Nanakot lang siya... sa report na nagviral, may babaeng napasigaw."

She noted that they cannot arrest the individual, who's still out there, due to perceived mental illness.

Dela Torre said that upon learning of the viral incident, the city's Substation 5 took action and immediately had the drainage sealed.

"Noong nagviral po kasi iyon, 'di tayo nagsayang ng oras," she said.

Dela Torre said social workers from Brgy. San Lorenzo, with the help of the police, have been patrolling the area in hopes of finding the individual in question.

They also asked the Makati Social Welfare Development for assistance.

PhilSTAR L!fe has reached out to the Makati government for more details regarding the case but has yet to receive a reply.
