Here's your chance to study in the US. Fulbright PH releases scholarship programs for 2025
Dreaming of studying in the US as a scholar? Fulbright Philippines has several scholarships to offer this year.
Fulbright Philippines is a binational, non-profit organization established by the United States and Philippine governments to foster educational and cultural exchange between the two countries.
Recently, the educational foundation announced some scholarship opportunities for Filipinos who want to pursue master’s or doctoral studies, or non-degree doctoral dissertations in the U.S. under its foreign student program.
Aside from tuition and fee coverage, accepted applicants are entitled to perks such as round-trip international travel, monthly maintenance allowance, and health and accident insurance.

Fulbright Foreign Student Program (FFSP)
The Fulbright Foreign Student Program is open to Filipinos who want to pursue master’s or doctoral studies, or a non-degree doctoral dissertation. Grants are for a maximum of one academic year for non-degree, one to two years for master’s, and two years for doctoral degree studies.
Eligible applicants must have a college degree with a major in field specialization or an excellent academic record and must have at least two years of professional work experience.
Application opens in January.
Fulbright-PhilSA Foreign Student Program
For Filipinos seeking graduate studies in line with space science and technology, Fulbright-PhilSA is offering master’s and doctoral degrees with grants for up to two years.
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must have a college degree with a major in field specialization, must have a degree objective aligned with the Key Development Areas of the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA), and have spent at least two years of professional work experience, and must have at least two years of professional work experience.
Applicants must secure the following documents:
- Updated curriculum vitae with a maximum of six pages
- Research objective statement worth three to five pages
- Personal statement worth up to three pages
- Writing samples of no more than 20 pages with bibliography
- Three letters of recommendation
- Passport bio page
- NBI clearance secured not earlier than six months before the application
- Scanned/official/certified true copy of transcript of records
- Scanned/official/certified true copy of diploma

Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program
The fellowship program offers mid-career Filipino professionals and leaders a unique opportunity for professional growth and leadership development. This non-degree program provides grants for up to ten months, allowing fellows to immerse themselves in an exchange of knowledge and understanding about shared global challenges.
To sign up, applicants must have a college degree with a major in field specialization and should have a minimum of five years of full-time professional experience.
The fellowship program is accepting applications starting in April.
Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program (FLTA)
The FLTA program is open to early-career Filipino English teachers keen to work as Filipino-language teaching assistants at a U.S. university for one academic year. It will also help "increase their English language proficiency, refine their teaching skills, and extend their knowledge of the culture and customs of the United States." The period for the non-degree grant is nine months.
Eligible applicants must have a college degree with a major in field specialization and must be teaching English or in training to become an English teacher, based in or outside Metro Manila.
The program is accepting applications starting in June.
Fulbright Advanced Research and University Lecturing Program
This Fulbright Advanced Research and University Lecturing Program is open to Filipino academics, researchers, and professionals aiming to pursue research in the U.S. The grant duration is for a maximum of four months.
Eligible applicants must have a college degree with a doctoral degree or equivalent professional training or experience, must have Filipino citizenship, and must be residing in the Philippines at the time of the application and selection process.
The program is accepting applications starting in July.
Fulbright-PhilSA Visiting Scholar Program Award in Space Science and Technology Applications
This program is open to Filipino academics, researchers, and professionals aiming to pursue research in the U.S. in the field of space science and technology. The grant duration is for a maximum of four months.
Eligible applicants must have a college degree with a doctoral degree or equivalent professional training or experience, must have a degree objective aligned with the Key Development Areas of the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA), and have spent at least two years of professional work experience, must have Filipino citizenship, and is residing in the Philippines at the time of the application and selection process.
The program is accepting applications starting in July.
Fulbright US-ASEAN Visiting Scholar Program
The Fulbright US-ASEAN Visiting Scholar Program is open to Filipino academics, researchers, and professionals with ASEAN-related projects aiming to pursue research in the U.S. Students can pursue studies focused on subjects like public health, the South China Sea, Indo-Pacific focus, ASEAN economic integration, banking governance, human trafficking, STEM education, food safety, and legal education. Grants for the non-degree program are for a maximum of four months.
Accepted applicants are entitled to perks including a monthly stipend between $2,710 (P158,367) and $3,145 (P183,787) per month, a direct flight, round trip economy class flight ticket, a one-time payment of $1,250 (P73,000) professional allowance, and qualifying labs and research fees up to $3,000 (more than P175,000)
Eligible applicants must have a college degree with a doctoral degree or equivalent professional training or experience, must have Filipino citizenship, and must be residing in the Philippines at the time of the application and selection process.

Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD)
Global UGRAD is offered to Filipino undergraduates seeking a non-degree program in the US. The grant period is for one semester, or four to five months. The program offers successful applicants in-depth exposure to U.S. society, culture, and academic institutions, along with opportunities for professional development.
To be eligible, applicants must be Filipino aged over 18 years old, completed at least one semester of undergraduate study, currently enrolled as an undergraduate in good standing at any accredited university, either private or public, and have at least one remaining year at their home university upon the completion of the UGRAD program.
The program is accepting applications starting in November.
Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program for International Teachers (Fulbright DAI)
Fulbright DAI is accepting applications from primary or secondary Filipino teachers who want to further enhance their teaching skills in the US. The program offers hands-on experience observing and co-teaching with local teachers in a school near the host university. The grant duration for the non-degree program is one semester or four to five months.
Applicants must be Filipino citizens aged 18 or older who have completed at least one semester of undergraduate study and are currently enrolled in good standing at an accredited university (public or private). Furthermore, they must have at least one year of undergraduate study remaining upon completion of the UGRAD program.
All grantees must return to the Philippines immediately upon completion of the study. Learn more about the scholarships here.
