The Philippines is celebrating a significant achievement, as 121 of its universities have been recognized in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2025.

This impressive increase from 56 institutions last year positions the country with the most ranked schools among all Southeast Asian nations.

Among the notable institutions included in this year's rankings are Ateneo de Manila University, which ranked in the 101–200 global bracket, followed by Batangas State University, Isabela State University, and the University of the Philippines, which are within the 401–600 global bracket.

For the fifth consecutive year, the University of Santo Tomas held its position in the 601–800 band. Also in this group are Caraga State University–Ampayon campus, Ifugao State University, Mariano Marcos State University, Leyte Normal University, and Saint Louis University.

The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings are an assessment that evaluates universities worldwide based on their progress towards the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These goals cover a wide range of critical global issues, including environmental sustainability, social inclusion, economic growth, clean energy, and global partnerships.

This year's rankings saw a record participation of 2,526 universities from 130 countries and regions.

Australia's Western Sydney University maintained its top position overall for the fourth consecutive year, followed by the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom.

With 22 universities in the top 50 overall rankings, Asian institutions have seen a remarkable increase from last year's 12. This compares to 11 from Australasia, 9 from Europe, 8 from North America, and only 1 from Africa.

Indonesia's Universitas Airlangga made a significant impact, reaching ninth place and becoming the most sustainable institution from an emerging economy.
