Two PH beaches make it to world's best 50 list for 2025
Two stunning Philippine beaches have earned spots on the World's Best 50 Beaches list for 2025.
Entalula Beach in El Nido, Palawan, ranked second, while Bonbon Beach in Romblon placed 38th, a leap from their 2024 ranking of fourth and 45th, respectively.
Italy's Cala Goloritze clinched the first spot, while Thailand's Bang Bao Beach, Greece's Fteri Beach, and French Polynesia's PK 9 Beach bagged the third, fourth, and fifth spots, respectively.
This year's list welcomes new countries including Madagascar, Yemen, Antigua & Barbuda, the United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka, Costa Rica, Tanzania, France, Ireland, and the Maldives, as well as overseas territories such as American Samoa, the British Virgin Islands, and Bonaire.
Described as "Palawan's overlooked slice of heaven," Entulala Beach is known for its stunning limestone cliffs that rise behind its soft, white sands, creating a breathtaking view.
Due to the beach's concealed geographic location (it's an hour boat ride from El Nido town or 15 minutes by boat from Miniloc Island), it seldom has visitors, resulting in the preservation of the natural beauty of the body of water compared to other islands and beaches surrounding Palawan.
Moreover, the clear, calm waters surrounding Entalula are teeming with vibrant coral reefs, making it an ideal spot for snorkeling and exploring underwater life.
The beach was also praised for its striking natural features and tranquil atmosphere, making it an ideal place to relax and escape the crowds.
Bonbon Beach in Romblon, on the other hand, was admired for its fine, white sand and crystal-clear waters.
Called a "laid-back, untouched paradise," Bonbon features a natural sandbar that stretches to nearby Bangug Island during low tide.
Just like Entalula, Bonbon Beach offers a serene getaway where visitors can appreciate the beauty of nature without the busy crowds typically found in more popular tourist destinations.
The World's Best 50 Beaches list features experienced travel professionals voting for their top beach picks based on votes from its network of Judges and over 1,000 vetted travel professionals, including industry experts and high-profile influencers.
According to the list's website, there are no specific criteria for the beaches, but the experts are asked why they think these places are the best.
In addition to the votes, the organization teamed up with "beach Ambassadors" to review the submissions and then compile a list based on specific criteria: unique, wildlife, untouched, soundtrack of nature, easy to enter, often calm water, not too crowded, and frequently idyllic.
