Pasig condo residents call for justice over 'unexplained' disappearance of 13 cats

Resident volunteers caring the feline population at Satori Residences in Pasig City are demanding answers and accountability following the sudden and unexplained disappearance of 13 community cats from the premises.

The group, called "Cats of Satori," earlier launched a public petition and appealed directly to the property management for transparency amid the cats' disappearance.

"These cats were part of a managed, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and cared-for colony. Their sudden, unexplained absence raises urgent and serious questions," the said. "They may have been 'just cats' to some. But to us, they were living beings—gentle souls who deserved safety, care, and respect."

The group said that Satori Residences condo management has denied any involvement in the disappearance of the community cats.

Despite the denial, Cats of Satori has formally requested an "immediate" and "impartial" review of CCTV footage, stressing its importance for "transparency, accountability, and community safety."

The group also said in a previous statement that an official police investigation is underway.

'Should not fall on deaf ears'

The community's concerns has also since caught the attention Sen. Grace Poe, an advocate for animal welfare, as she said the group's plea "should not fall on deaf ears."

"The group deserves an explanation from the paroperty management on the disappearance of the cats," she said in a statement.

Poe further urged barangay officials to help find the missing cats and identify those responsible for their disappearance.

"The promotion of animal welfare and the culture of care and concern for them is a shared responsibility."

Poe has pushed for the passage of Senate Bill No. 2458, or the Revised Animal Welfare Act, which aims to slap tougher penalties against animal abuse.
