Jackson "Jacko" Graham, a surfer based in Queensland in Australia, has died on Aug. 8. He was 22.

The Surf Dive Fish Australia, an organization Graham was a part of, made the announcement on behalf of his family through GoFundMe.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague and friend, Jackson Graham," the SDF said. "Jackson was a valued member of our team, known for his skill, work ethic, and warm nature. His passing has left a profound impact on all who knew him."

The Mad Hueys, a clothing brand known for its surf and fishing apparel, also confirmed Graham's passing in an Instagram post.

"Rest easy Jacko. You'll always be in the hearts of The Mad Hueys," it said.

The Daily Mail, citing the Queensland Police Service, reported that there was nothing suspicious about Graham's sudden death, and no ongoing investigations are being conducted.

The SDF said the fundraiser will be directed to support Graham's family "during this incredibly difficult time, in accordance with their wishes."

"Any contribution – no matter the amount – is greatly appreciated. Your generosity will help ease some of the practical burdens for Jackson’s loved ones as they navigate the days ahead," it added.

To date, it has raised over 74,000 Australian dollars (P2.7 million).

According to The Inertia, a California-based publication that has a focus on surfing, Graham became the Palm Beach Boardriders’ open club champion at 14.

In 2019, he won Queensland’s Mark Richards Shield championship for under-19s alongside fellow Australian Joshua Boyle. In 2020, he joined the World Surf League junior tour.

Fellow Queensland surfer Oscar Berry paid tribute to Graham.

"When I walked into my first class of my new school on the Gold Coast after moving up from Yamba, the first person I got introduced and sat down next to was Jacko. And since then he has remained one of my closest mates," Berry said in an Instagram post. "Jacko was absolutely one of a kind, so talented and an all round ripping bloke with the kindest heart in the world."

"I love you Jacko gonna miss you so much mate, you’ll be forever in my heart," he added.

Graham's funeral was held at Currumbin Vikings Surf Life Saving Club. A traditional paddle-out was done at Palm Beach in celebration of his life, according to The Daily Mail.
