Published May 07, 2025 7:07 am

The Met Gala 2025 has once again proven why it's one of fashion's biggest nights.

This year's theme, "Tailored for You," puts the spotlight on suiting and menswear and pays tribute to Black Dandyism, a fashion movement known for its powerful blend of cultural pride, resistance, and personal style.

This is the first time since 2003 that the theme has exclusively focused on menswear.

From dramatic silhouettes to intricate details and unexpected transformations, here are some of the showstopping looks that lit up the red carpet.

Zendaya

Zendaya at the Met Gala 2025 channelled a clean yet sultry outfit. She donned an all-white suit with a fitted jacket, matching pants that flare at the bottom, and a white shirt with buttons down the front. She also wore a big white hat that added drama and elegance to her overall look.

Colman Domingo

This look from American actor and playwright Colman Domingo is bold and royal.

He wore a long, bright blue cape from Valentino that flowed to the floor. Over his shoulders, he had a large, shiny silver and white piece resembling a royal collar or armor. The Sing Sing actor told E! News that he wanted to honor the Black church with his ensemble.

When he shed his elegant robe, Domingo showed off his three-piece custom Valentino zoot suit with an embroidered checked jacket and wide-leg trousers. Finishing the look was a polka dot scarf tie and a large black flower on his lapel.

Sabrina Carpenter

The Espresso singer brought her signature flirty and fun bombshell style to the 2025 Met Gala with a chic twist on suiting.

Sabrina wore a custom Louis Vuitton ensemble in deep maroon featuring a corset-style bodysuit. A hint of a white shirt collar peeked out at the neckline for an extra touch of edge.

Rihanna

This year, Rihanna returned to the Met in a stunning Marc Jacobs outfit that hugged her baby bump, topped off with a wide-brimmed hat. She debuted her pregnancy alongside A$AP Rocky, who served as a co-chair of the evening's gala.

Diana Ross

American singer and actress Diana Ross was a showstopper on the red carpet.

For her first Met Gala appearance since 2003, Ross wore a striking white feathery hat that matched her sparkling, crystal-covered gown. She completed the dramatic look with an 18-foot shawl featuring long cuffs.

Demi Moore

The Substance actress made a striking entrance at the Met Gala 2025, showcasing her fashion prowess in a black-and-white, off-the-shoulder gown by Thom Browne, which looked like an oversized necktie.

Cynthia Erivo

Cynthia Erivo's Met Gala 2025 look proves that history, art, and fashion coexist.

The Wicked star wore a custom Givenchy outfit designed by Sarah Burton which featured a back-to-front sliced jacket, a corset embroidered with crystals, and a tulle multilayered skirt. She completed the look with custom black leather embroidered platform laced boots and a custom satin embroidered clutch.

The overall look was inspired by famous Black Dandies in art, including Iké Udé, Ignatius Sancho, the singer Prince, and Christiaan van Molhoop.

Janelle Monáe

The American singer-songwriter and rapper wore a "time-traveling dandy" by Thom Browne in collaboration with costume designer Paul Tazewell. It featured bold black, white and red stripe patterns along the box-shaped outfit.

Under the cape, Monáe wore a mix-and-match jacket and skirt—the right side had black and white stripes, while the left was made of "red wool fabric."

Patrick Schwarzenegger

The White Lotus star looked dapper in a Balmain suit over a silk yellow dress shirt, accentuated with an Omega watch.

Lizzo

American singer and rapper Lizzo returned to the Met Gala wearing a plunging black-and-white floor-length gown by Christian Siriano, featuring three corsetry layers.

A diamond bracelet, rings, dangling diamond earrings, sleek blond hair, and a long, extendable cigarette holder topped off her look.

Jodie Turner-Smith

The British actress turned heads at this year's Met Gala wearing an incredible Burberry look and a statement hat.

The burgundy leather outfit and top hat paid "homage to a portrait of Selina Lazevski, a Black Equestrian who lived during the Belle Époch in Paris and was photographed by Paul Nader in 1891."

BLACKPINK's Lisa

BLACKPINK's Lisa, who also made her acting debut in Season 3 of The White Lotus, graced the Met Gala in a pantless, glittering, form-fitting blazer and matching bodysuit.

She also wore a pair of black tights featuring the Louis Vuitton logo.

Completing her look is her blonde hair in a voluminous updo and soft, subtle make-up.

Cardi B.

Cardi B. never disappoints on the red carpet, and the 2025 Met Gala was no different. The rapper arrived at the star-studded event in a striking green velvet Burberry suit in forest green. It also featured a sheer ruffled undershirt paired with the voluminous hairstyle.

SEVENTEEN's S.Coups

S.Coups of K-pop group SEVENTEEN attended the Met Gala for the first time, wearing a grey uneven blazer that resembled a traditional Korean hanbok, matching pleated pants, and a long black coat.

He completed the look with a simple watch and ash blonde hair parted in the middle and brushed on the side.

Doja Cat

Doja Cat brought her usual cat-inspired style to the 2025 Met Gala. She wore a pinstripe bodysuit by Marc Jacobs, a velvet top resembling an ocelot cat print, and oversized shoulder pads on the wool jacket. She finished the outfit with black tights and black leather Kiki boots.
