Kyline Alcantara breaks silence on breakup with Kobe Paras: 'I still have respect for him'
Kyline Alcantara has set the record straight on her breakup with basketball star Kobe Paras.
In an interview with Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, Alcantara expressed appreciation for her past relationship.
"It was a beautiful experience. I am really happy. I am really loved," she said. "It's just that we are two different people, and that's okay. I've learned a lot of lessons in that relationship, and I will always treasure every experience na or achievements po na nagawa naming dalawa."
The young star also admitted to feeling a "bitterness" at first, but now, she's not "bothered" by what she cannot control.
'I still have respect for him'
Alcantara explained that she kept silent about the breakup as she "still [had] respect" for Paras. "Despite everything that happened."
"And sa lahat naman po ng mga tao na nasaktan ako, I will always show them grace."
From her relationship with the basketball player, the actress shared she learned to know her boundaries and have self-respect.
Alcantara also noted how her faith, family, and friends, specifically Beauty Empire co-star Barbie Forteza, helped her move forward.
"[Barbie] just gave me my confidence back. She made me realize na 'Ikaw muna mare.'"
On future relationships
In spite of the heartbreak, Alcantara says she'll won't close her heart nor give up on love.
"I hope people will not take that in a very different way na parang 'malandi' naman. No, it's just that I know that love is everywhere. You can receive and give love freely," she underscored.
Paras and Alcantara were plagued with breakup rumors after users noticed that they had deleted some of their couple photos on their Instagram accounts. They fueled the split speculations further after unfollowing each other on Instagram days before Paras and singer Rhaila Tomakin were seen in Bali.
Paras' mother, Jackie Forster, in a video message on April 27, denied cheating claims against her son and accused Alcantara of being toxic in their relationship. She claimed the latter was "begging" him to get back with her and even physically assaulted him.
Alcantara's family and friends have been defending the actress on social media.
Her agency, Sparkle GMA Artist Center, on April 29 issued a statement saying she "would like to move on with this issue," without being specific.
"She has chosen to keep her peace and maintain the respect for the people who have been part of her life. She hopes we can all move on and put this issue to rest," the statement read.
Paras confirmed his relationship with Alcantara in November 2024.
