'Charmed' actor Julian McMahon's cause of death revealed
The cause of death of Julian McMahon, an Australian actor best known for his role in Charmed, has been revealed.
PEOPLE Magazine, citing a cremation approval summary report it obtained from the office of the Pinellas County Medical Examiner, reported that McMahon died from lung metastasis as a result of head and neck metastatic cancer.
According to the National Library of Medicine, metastasis is the "spread of tumor cells from primary sites to surrounding structures and distant sites. It is considered a significant cause of morbidity and mortality."
PEOPLE Magazine added that the manner of McMahon's death was ruled as natural, and that his body has been cremated.
The actor's wife confirmed he "died peacefully" in a statement sent to Deadline last week. He was 56.
"Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible. We ask for support during this time to allow our family to grieve in privacy. And we wish for all of those to whom Julian brought joy, to continue to find joy in life. We are grateful for the memories," she said.
Aside from Charmed, McMahon became famous for his role in Nip/Tuck, where he played an unscrupulous plastic surgeon and got nominated for an Emmy for his performance in 2005.
He also became part of different films including the Fantastic Four superhero franchise as well as The Surfer.
McMahon last appeared on screen this year in The Residence as the Australian prime minister.
