Pop star Katy Perry and actor Orlando Bloom confirmed their breakup a week after American outlets reported rumors about it.

PEOPLE Magazine, citing the couple's representatives, reported that the former couple will focus on co-parenting their four-year-old daughter. They had been together for nine years and engaged for six.

"Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry’s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting," they said.

"They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is—and always will be—raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect."

TMZ first reported on their rumored breakup on June 24.

According to US Weekly, Perry and Bloom have gone their separate ways but are "amicable."

Last July 1, PEOPLE, citing an anonymous source, reported that Perry and Bloom had "been living on an island of stress."

"Katy and Orlando have been suffering through the same problems that have plagued them for years," the source said. "[They had] too much going on in their lives, which makes it hard to find time for each other and iron out disagreements. When they don’t communicate properly, their relationship dips to a low level.”

The pair met at an afterparty of the Golden Globe Awards in January 2016.

In an episode of American Idol, Perry recalled meeting Bloom as they argued over a burger.

"I had my security guard grab 10 In-N-Outs and all of a sudden I see my boyfriend's hand—he wasn't even sitting at our table—he just swoops in and he grabs it and I was like, 'Hey that's my burger,'" she said.

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom's on-and-off relationship

In May 2016, Perry and Bloom made their relationship Instagram official as they attended the Cannes Film Festival together.

They announced their breakup in February 2017, but noted that they were still friends.

In an interview with Elle Magazine in April of that year, Bloom, despite not mentioning Perry's name, reflected on their breakup at the time.

"We're all grown up," he said. "She happens to be someone who is very visible, but I don't think anybody cares about what I'm up to. Nor should they. It's between us. It's better to set an example for kids and show that [breakups] don't have to be about hate."

In February 2018, PEOPLE, citing a source, reported that Perry and Bloom were spending time together in Prague, though "not necessarily putting a label on it."

In September of that year, Perry and Bloom attended the red carpet of the Gala for the Global Ocean in Monaco.

On Valentine's Day 2019, Bloom popped the question, with a source telling People that he even sought the blessing of Perry's parents beforehand.

On March 5, 2020, Perry announced her pregnancy through the music video of her song Never Worn White, which featured her baby bump. They welcomed their baby in August. (Bloom also had a 14-year-old son with ex-wife, model Miranda Kerr.)

Perry and Bloom were supposed to get married in Japan during the summer of that year, but had to postpone it due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
