Sue Ramirez shares she quit vaping: 'I feel so much better'
Sue Ramirez has kicked some habits she thought she "could never remove" from her system.
The actress took to Threads to share that she has stopped vaping, and drinking coffee and soft drinks. These were goals that she had for June, and so far, she's been consistent in following them, she said.
"Only goes to show that we just have to decide and stand by it if we want to change," Sue wrote. "One day was all I needed. A new awakening."
"Now I feel so much better without them," she added.
In another post, she said, "Tama na 'yan kakavape. Labyu haha."
In the replies, Threads users celebrated Sue's decision, with some telling her, "Congratulations," while others shared habits they also stopped.
"Proud of you for putting that vape down, Sue!! I quit around [four] years ago. It was hard but worth it," voice over artist Inka Magnaye commented.
"Thanks, Ate! Super proud din ako sa sarili ko, actually. I tried to stop so many times before pero now, wala na. Paninindigan lang talaga," Sue replied.
"I didn't see this post for nothing. I think it's calling me na rin. So proud of you, [Sue]! I hope ako rin one day," one user said.
According to a 2019 survey by the World Health Organization, around 809,677 or 12.5% of Filipino youth are tobacco users, while 913,316 or 14.1% use electronic cigarettes. To fight this, the Department of Health is aiming to form anti-vape and anti-tobacco student councils in schools.
On July 4, the health agency warned against "popcorn lung," or bronchiolitis obliterans, which is caused by a chemical called diacetyl found in vape juice.
According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, popcorn lung is a rare condition that results from the damage of the lungs' small airways.
