Astronomer hires Gwyneth Paltrow as ‘temporary spokesperson’ after Coldplay kiss cam issue
Astronomer has humorously appointed Gwyneth Paltrow, the ex-wife of Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, as its "temporary spokesperson." This move comes after a scandal involving a Coldplay concert's kiss cam, which led to the resignations of Astronomer's CEO and head of HR.
Prior to the viral kiss cam issue, Astronomer was not a widely recognized company outside of its niche in data management. Now, Paltrow has been hired to "speak on behalf" of their employees to introduce the company to a wider audience.
“Thank you for your interest in Astronomer. Hi, I’m Gwyneth Paltrow. I’ve been hired on a very temporary basis to speak on behalf of the 300-plus employees at Astronomer,” she said in the video.
“Astronomer has gotten a lot of questions over the last few days, and they wanted me to answer the most common ones."
The first question posed on screen read "OMG! What the actual f"
"Yes, Astronomer is the best place to run Apache Airflow, unifying the experience of running data, ML and AI pipelines at scale. We’ve been thrilled so many people have a newfound interest in data automation."
"As for the other questions we’ve received," she said as the text "How is your social media team holding" flashed.

"Yes! There’s still room available at our Beyond Analytics event in September. We will now be returning to what we do best, delivering game-changing results for our customers. Thank you for your interest in Astronomer.”
Astronomer's video follows the viral moment created at a Coldplay concert in Boston last July 16, where CEO Andy Byron and head of HR Kristin Cabot were caught on the Jumbotron. The incident, which sparked allegations of an affair, quickly resulted in both executives' resignations.
Paltrow and Martin were married for 13 years. They share two children, Apple and Moses.
