Claudine Barretto gets hospitalized for depression, asks not to be judged

Claudine Barretto recently shared on Instagram that she was hospitalized for depression and is asking the public for understanding rather than judgment.

In a video posted on Instagram last Sunday, Aug. 24, Barretto was seen hugging her doctor. It also showed her son, Noah, trying to comfort and take care of her as she lay in her hospital bed.

“Yes, this is what depression looks like. So please don’t judge. We all need more understanding and compassion,” Barretto said in the caption.

Barretto's post prompted celebrities and fans to send her encouragement, while others shared their own experiences.

"Hi, my dearest baby Claude. We are all here loving you.. Dito lang kami para sayo. Tomorrow is another day! Be happy, smile and enjoy life cause you are blessed. I love you," Vilma Santos wrote.

"I lost my daughter to depression. Now I am experiencing it. What I strengthened is my FAITH IN GOD. PRAYING WHENEVER I experience anxiety attacks. Go to Church. Seek HIM & you will find yourself," one user wrote.

Another Instagram user said she was diagnosed with melancholic depression and is taking maintenance. She said she wishes for the actress to be well.

"I am thankful that I live in Australia where there is mental health awareness, the government provides professional help, and people are not judgmental to people that suffers from depressive illness. Clau, I wish for you to be well. Hugs!"

"I feel u Ms. Clau depression is not a joke..naging ganito din ako nuon,I'm ofw mas mahirap kasi malayo ako sa pamilya ko,pero dahil sa faith ko sa panginoon,I was healed,keep on praying po..we love u," one more wrote.

This isn't the first time Barretto has spoken about her mental health struggles. Last year, she revealed she had voluntarily checked into a rehabilitation facility for "post-traumatic stress disorder."
