Netflix gives first look at Lady Gaga's character in 'Wednesday'
This isn't just a TikTok trend—Lady Gaga is officially joining the cast of Netflix's Wednesday!
The streaming giant treated fans of the supernatural comedy series with a first look at Gaga's character Rosaline Rotwood, who will appear in the continuation of the show's second season.
The singer looked haunting as she sported platinum-blonde hair, ghostly skin with deep, plum lips, and a soft, white gown with a cape.
Sharing her spotlight is The Thing, the disembodied hand perched dramatically on her shoulder.
While Netflix has yet to release any details on Rosaline's role in the show, they described the character in the caption as a "vision in venom," which could be a nod to her powers and skills for when she'll eventually appear.
Gaga's appearance on the show is somewhat of a full-circle moment, as this comes after a sped-up version of her 2011 song Bloody Mary became a viral hit on TikTok when it was used as background music to the iconic dance scene featured in the fourth episode of Season 1.
The remix became so popular that Gaga herself hopped in on the trend. The Bad Romance singer posted a video of herself back in 2022, filming herself in her best Wednesday Addams outfit before doing the dance routine.
Netflix recently premiered the first half of the show's second season on Aug. 6. The second half is scheduled to be released on Sept. 3.
The good news for fans is that the series won't end there: Wednesday has already been renewed for a third season.
Showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar expressed their excitement in a joint statement, saying, "Our goal for Season 3 is the same as it is for every season: to make it the best season of Wednesday we possibly can."
"We want to continue digging deeper into our characters while expanding the world of Nevermore and Wednesday," Millar added, "We will be seeing more Addams Family members and learning more family secrets in Season 3!"
Directed by Tim Burton, Wednesday premiered on Netflix in November 2022 and was included in Netflix’s Top 10 list of most popular English series. The show is based on the character Wednesday Addams from the Addams Family franchise.
