Ballet Philippines is celebrating its 56th season in a big way this August, bringing the classic fairy tales Peter and the Wolf and Little Red Riding Hood to the stage.

This production marks a historic first in Philippine performing arts as Ballet Philippines collaborates with premier cultural institutions Repertory Philippines and the Manila Symphony Orchestra.

The Peter and the Wolf, helmed by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev, brings characters of the show is represented by a corresponding instrument in the orchestra: the bird by a flute, the duck by an oboe, the cat by a clarinet, the grandfather by a bassoon, the wolf by horns, and Peter by the strings. It will be directed by Jeremy Domingo and choreographed by PJ Rebullida.

Meanwhile, Little Red Riding Hood will come to life in a full-length ballet performance featuring the compositions of French conductor Camille Saint-Saens and Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg. The show will be "a playful reimagination of the classic fairy tale" that tells the story of a little girl who discovers the power of kindness. This year's staging will be directed and choreographed by Mikhail Martynyuk.

The double-bill classics will only have five performances from Aug. 1 to 5 at the Theatre at Solaire.

For the first time in Philippine performing arts history, Ballet Philippines with Repertory Philippines
and Manila Symphony Orchestra will present a doublebill of beloved classic tales—the symphonic
tale for children Peter and the Wolf and the full-length ballet Little Red Riding Hood.

"The production promises to be a culturally enriching experience for all ages, with live orchestral music, captivating theatrical storytelling, and mesmerizing choreography," the release read.

This year's production is also a major community outreach initiative. Free seats will be given to families from selected barangays, aiming to make transformative performing arts accessible to underserved communities.

“This initiative is about more than just performance—it’s about access, education, and inspiring the next generation,” says REP President and CEO Mindy Perez-Rubio, BP President Kathleen Liechtenstein, and MSO Executive Director Jeffrey Solares in a joint statement. “By opening our doors to families from across the community, we hope to spark a lifelong love for the arts.”

Premiere seats are also available for the general public. Proceeds will be used to sustain and expand future outreach efforts. Ticket prices range from P802 to P4,017.

Tickets are available via TicketWorld, the Solaire Box Office daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and through REP channels.
