WATCH: 'Alice in Borderland' drops teaser for Season 3
Netflix's hit Japanese sci-fi thriller series, Alice in Borderland, has dropped a teaser for its upcoming third season.
In the nearly two-minute teaser, Arisu speaks in front of the camera, saying, "All of a sudden, everything went quiet. I feel like I dreamed about a journey," as glimpses of ruin and dead bodies are shown.
In another scene, Usagi enters a building and observes the interiors, while saying in a voice-over, "I see the same scene over and over." She then has visions of dead bodies.
Season 2 ended with a cliffhanger after Arisu and Usagi cleared every card's game and found themselves in a hospital reminiscent of the real world. The two get married and lead a happy life, with memories of the Borderland appearing in dreams and hallucinations.
Suddenly, Usagi is abducted, and Arisu returns to Borderland to save her. Upon his return, he faces a barrage of fire arrows and electric currents. The mysterious Joker card also appears throughout the video.
The teaser also shows new cast members, including Tetsu, who screams ominously; Rei, whose blue locks and smile are unmistakable; and Kazuya, who aims his gun at a mysterious target.
There's also Ryuji, who looks dapper in a suit and tie but has an enigmatic presence on whether he's a friend or foe.
Alice in Borderland is based on Haro Aso's manga series of the same name.
It follows a group of individuals who find themselves in an alternate, dystopic version of Tokyo where their survival depends on competing in and winning a series of sadistic games.
The live-action adaptation cast members include Kento Yamazaki, Tao Tsuchiya, Hayato Isomura, Ayaka Miyoshi, Katsuya Maiguma, Koji Ohkura, Risa Sudou, Hiroyuki Ikeuchi, Tina Tamashiro, Kotaro Daigo, Hyunri, Sakura Kiryu, Yugo Mikawa, Joey Iwanaga, Akana Ikeda, and Kento Kaku.
It became Netflix's most-watched series during its debut on Dec. 10, 2020, with the streaming giant renewing the show for a second season only two weeks after its release. The second season premiered on Dec. 22, 2022, and likewise skyrocketed to Netflix's Top 10 in over 90 countries with a total of 200 million viewing hours worldwide.
Alice in Borderland 3 will premiere on Sept. 25.
Netflix confirmed the third season in September 2023.
