National ID holders to get free MRT-3 rides this August

Metro Rail Transit Line 3 announced on Wednesday, Aug. 6, that the free rides are available from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on August 6, 13, 20, and 27.
“Maaaring iprisinta ang physical card, printed paper, o digital copy version ng National ID sa security personnel sa service gate ng mga istasyon upang makatanggap ng Libreng Sakay,” the MRT-3 said in the statement.
MRT-3 stated that the initiative aims to promote the use of the National ID for fast and easy transactions in both the public and private sectors, as well as the inclusive delivery of social services.
The National ID system was initiated in 2018 to provide valid proof of identity for Filipino citizens and resident aliens in the Philippines. It's meant to integrate processes, systems, and services. Registration is open to all Filipino citizens aged one and above.
As of February 2025, the Philippine Statistics Authority said 92 million Filipinos had registered for the system.
