The cause of death of Juliana Marins, a Brazilian hiker who fell while climbing Mount Rinjani in Indonesia, has been revealed.

Marins' autopsy revealed that she died of internal bleeding caused by damage to organs and bone fractures. "The injuries are said to have stemmed from blunt force trauma a few hours before the body was retrieved," local outlet Agência Brasil reported.

The 26-year-old hiker died less than 20 minutes after the bleeding began.

Local coroner Dr. Ida Bagus Putu Alit, in a June 27 press conference, added that there were "no signs of hypothermia or prolonged suffering after the injury." The final autopsy and toxicology results are expected in two weeks.

Marins was climbing Mount Rinjani on June 21 until she fell from a cliff near the crater of a volcano. In a drone footage obtained by Brazilian outlet TV Brasil, Marins appeared conscious, sitting in the grey sand while waiting for rescue.

The authorities found her body four days after the incident.

Marins was initially found at a depth of 150 meters on June 31, but slipped 500 meters deep days later. At the time, the Brazilian government that adverse weather, tough terrain, and soft sand in the area made the 50-person search and rescue efforts challenging, Reuters reported.

Marins’ family called the rescue team “negligent,” per a report by Brazilian outlet TV Globo. Her relatives argued that she would still be alive if they had been able to reach her sooner.
