But as Brock was reaching for the hat, a man to his right suddenly grabbed it.
"No, what are you doing?" the child could be heard saying as he reached out for the cap. Meanwhile, the man was seen putting the hat in his companion's bag.
As the moment went viral, several users expressed their dismay at the man who took the cap from the child.
"This is absolutely disgraceful behavior. It's heartbreaking to see an adult stoop so low as to snatch a signed hat from a child, especially at an event meant to bring joy and inspiration," one user said.
"If you can afford to be at the US Open, there is no need to steal some kid's stuff," another added.
Majchrzak and Brock reunite
In a now-expired Instagram story, Majchrzak said that he didn't realize what had happened.
"After the match, I didn't record that my cap didn't get to the boy ... Could you help me find the kid from my match?" he wrote.
On Aug. 30, he shared that he met up with Brock after his warm-up. He's seen giving the boy merch, including a cap. The tennis star also took photos with Brock.

"Hello World, Together with Brock," he captioned a photo with the fan. "We wish you a great day!"
On Aug. 28, the Polish player advanced to the third round of the US Open after defeating Russia's Karen Khachanov. However, two days later, he announced his retirement from the tournament due to injury.
