The Philippines' population count for 2024 has officially hit over 112 million, Malacañang said.

Through Proclamation No. 973, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on July 11, the Palace has officially recognized the results of the 2024 census conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority from July to September 2024.

"Now, therefore, I, Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution and existing laws, do hereby declare as official for all purposes the results of the 2024 POPCEN, placing the total population of the Philippines as of 1 July 2024 at 112,729,484, as shown in the '2024 Census of Population: Population by Province, City/Municipality, and Barangay,' the proclamation read.

Under Batas Pambansa Blg. 72, the final population count only becomes official after the president has declared it as so.

The PSA, in coordination with the Presidential Communications Office, has now been directed to disseminate copies of the report to all concerned government agencies and offices.

The latest population count is 3,694,141 higher than the 109,035,343 total recorded in 2020.

The agency collected data covering the households and institutional living quarters in all provinces, cities, municipalities, and barangays in the country.

In a May 2024 news release, the PSA detailed that the data collection utilized a budget amounting to P4.8 billion to cover 27.4 million households and 29.8 thousand institutional living quarters nationwide.
